Ancient people used to display pious and religious symbols to ward of evil spirits and attract good luck and fortune to them.
In India the three most auspicious signs are  those of " Damru - OM and TRISHUL " .
Hence if all these three signs are displayed together, it is supposed to be very lucky and also protects the people from all types of evil eyes.
The Sanskrit name for the syllable is praṇava, from a root nu "to shout, sound", verbal pra-nu- being attested as "to make a humming or droning sound" in the Brahmanas, and taking the specific meaning of "to utter the syllable om" in the Chāndogya Upanishad and the Shrauta Sutras. More rarely used terms are akṣara (lit. symbol, character) or ekākṣara (lit. one symbol, character), and in later times omkāra becomes prevalent.
Phonetically, the syllable is /aum/, which is regularly monophthongised to [õː] in Sanskrit phonology. It is sometimes also written with pluti, as o3m, notably by Arya Samaj. When occurring within a Sanskrit utterance, the syllable is subject to the normal rules of sandhi in Sanskrit grammar, however with the additional peculiarity that after preceding a or ā, the au of aum does not form vriddhi (au) but guna (o) per Pāṇini 6.1.95 (i.e. 'om').
The damaru is very common throughout the Indian subcontinent.[1] The damaru is known as a power drum, and when played, it is believed to generate spiritual energy. It is associated with the Hindu deity Shiva. It is believed that Sanskrit language was recognized by the drumbeats of the damaru (see Shiva Sutra for the sounds), and His performance of the cosmic dance of tandava. The damaru is used by itinerant musicians of all stripes, due to its small portable size.
In the shield shape of some damarus, the triangular upward representation also symbolizes male procreativity (the Lingam), and the downward round representation symbolizes the female procreativity (the Yoni). Symbolically, the creation of the world begins when the lingam and yoni meet at the midpoint of the damaru, and the destruction takes place when they separate from each other.
The trishula is wielded by the Hindu God Shiva and is said to have been used to sever the original head of Ganesha. Durga also holds trishula, as one of her many weapons. There are many other gods and deities, who hold the weapon trishula. The three points have various meanings and significance, and, common to Hindu religion, have many stories behind them. They are commonly said to represent various trinities—creation, maintenance and destruction, past, present and future, the three guna. When looked upon as a weapon of Shiva, the trishula is said to destroy the three worlds: the physical world, the world of the forefathers (representing culture drawn from the past) and the world of the mind (representing the processes of sensing and acting). The three worlds are supposed to be destroyed by Shiva into a single non-dual plane of existence, that is bliss alone.
In the human body, the trishula also represents the place where the three main nadis, or energy channels (ida, pingala and shushmana) meet at the brow. Shushmana, the central one, continues upward to the 7th chakra, or energy center, while the other two end at the brow, there the 6th chakra is located. The trisula's central point represents Shushmana, and that is why it is longer than the other two, representing ida and pingala.

శంకరుడు ఆదిదేవుడు, ఆదిమధ్యాంత రహితుడు, ఆడిగినవారికి అడిగినంత ఇచ్చే బోళాశంకరుడు. తాను గరళాన్ని మింగి, లోకాలను రక్షించిన మహోదరుడు శంకరుడు. తాను శ్మశానవాసిగా భిక్షాటన చేస్తూ, భక్తులకు సకలైశ్వర్యములనిచ్చే భక్తజన సులభుడు శంకరుడు. అసలు శివం అంటేనే మంగళం లేక కల్యాణం అని అర్థం. శివ అంటే పరమేశ్వరుడు, శివా అంటే పార్వతి. అంటే అయ్యవారిలోనే అమ్మవారున్నారన్నమాట. శంకరుడు శుభాలనొసగేవాడు. లేక కల్యాణమూర్తి. తనను ప్రార్థించినవారికి కొంగు బంగారం. తనను ఎలా పూజించినా సరే కేవలం భక్తికి మాత్రమే ప్రాధాన్యతనిచ్చే అభయంకరుడు శంకరుడు. ఆ శంకరుని విభూది ధరించని నుదురు, ఈశ్వరార్చన చేయని జన్మ, శివాలయం లేని గ్రామం, శివ సంబంధం లేని విద్య అత్యంత నీచములు, నింద్యములని జాబాలోపనిషత్తు చెబుతోంది. అందుకే సాధారణంగా మన దేశంలో శివాలయం లేని ఊరుండదు. శివాలయం లేని ఊరు స్మశానంతో సమానం అంటారు.
ఓం ఒక ఏకాక్షర మంత్రము. త్రిమూర్తి స్వరూపముగా చెప్పబడుతోంది. అకార, ఉకార, మకార శబ్దములతో ఏర్పడింది ఓంకారం. అకారం జాగృదావస్థకు, ఉకారం స్వప్నావస్థకు, మకారం సుషుప్తావస్థకు శబ్దరూప ప్రతీకలు. ఓంకారం శబ్దాలలో మొదటిది. దాన్ని గ్రహించగలిగినవాడు తనను పరమాత్మతో ఏకం చేసుకోగలడు.
డమరుకం పరమశివుని హస్తభూషణం. శివతాండవ నృత్యంలో బహుళ ఉపయోగంలోనిది. శివతాండవం చేస్తూన్నప్పుడు శంకరుడు ఢమరుకం మ్రోగించినప్పుడు సర్వబీజాక్షరాలు, సర్వాక్షరాలు వెలువడినవి­. డమ్ డమ్ డ డమ్డమ్... డమ్ డమ్ డ డమ్డమ్ అనే డమరుక ధ్వణియైనా, డమరుక చిహ్నమైనా క్షుద్రశక్తులకు హడల్, ఆ పరిసరప్రాంతాల నుండి దూరంగా పారిపోతాయి.
దేవిభాగవతం సప్తమ స్కంధంలో త్రిశూలాన్ని త్రిమాతలకు మాతయైన రాజరాజేశ్వరీ దేవీ అమ్మవారు శివునకు బహుకరించినట్లు వర్ణించబడివుంది. ఈ త్రిశూలంతో శంకరుడు ఎందరో రాక్షసులను, లోక కంటకులను సంహారం గావించాడు. ఇంతటి మహిమాన్విత చిహ్నాలు పొదిగిన ఓం డమరుక త్రిశూల శంకర ఉంగరాన్ని సోమవారం కానీ, రాహు నక్షత్రాలైన ఆరుద్రా, స్వాతి, శతభిషా తారలున్న రోజన కాని సమీపంలోని ఆలయానికి తీసుకువెళ్ళి మీ స్వహస్తాలతో అర్చకులకు అందించి స్వామి పాదాలకు అమ్మవారి పాదాలకు తాకించి ఇవ్వమని కోరండి. ఆ సమయంలో మీకున్న బాధలన్ని తీరిపోవాలని మనస్సులో కోరుకుని అనంతరం ఈ ఉంగరాన్నిధరిస్తే చెప్పలేనంత లాభాలు తథ్యం.

ஓம், ஓம், ஓம்,… என்று தொடர்ந்து உச்சரிக்க வேண்டும். சப்தமாக உச்சரிப்பதைக் காட்டிலும், மனதிலேயே உச்சரித்தல் நலம்.
ஓ என்று தொடங்கும்போது மனதில் தங்களுக்கு ஒரு இஷ்ட தேவதையோ அல்லது வேறு எந்த ஒரு பொருளையோ நினைக்க துவங்கிக் கொண்டால், ’ம்இல், அந்த நினைவினை தொடர வேண்டும்.
இதோடு சேர்ந்து நாசிப்பயிற்சியும் செய்தால் மேலும் பயனுண்டு.
மூச்சை உள்ளிழுக்கும் போது, மனதில் வைத் துவக்கிக்கொண்டவாறு, தாங்கள் தேர்வு செய்த பொருளை மனத்தில் இருத்திக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
